A Bit of History

An Rí Rua; the Red King, or Rory/ Ruairí. The Chaffinch is an exuberant warbler who’s distinctive “pink, pink’ would cheer up any garden. It’s our most common finch and found in woodland, farmland, parks and gardens. In winter they can form flocks of hundreds of birds, especially in stubble fields and under beech trees. They are one of Ireland’s most widespread garden birds.
