A Bit of History

Located at the heart of County Waterford and on the doorstep of the Comeragh mountains , the harbour town of Dungarvan is the terminus for the spectacular Waterford Greenway and a picturesque starting point to explore the famed Copper Coast Geopark along this stretch of the southeast coast.

The town’s Irish name, Dún Garbhán means “Garbhann’s fort”, referring to Saint Garbhann who founded a church there in the seventh century.
