County Down and the Mourne Mountains

A while back I was invited by RTE to do a spot on Nationwide where they were filming up at St John’s Point lighthouse in Killough, County Down. It was a great opportunity to climb Ireland’s tallest landward lighthouse, but also an opportunity to revisit the stunning Tyrella beach just south of the point. The light is always extraordinary on the sands. Maybe this is to do with the wonderful backdrop of the Mourne Mountains and the way the light is filtered across them and scattered among the rivulets on the beach. I’d almost learn to ride a horse just to take a gallop across those sands!
