A Bit of History

The Raven, like the hooded crow is associated with war and death, but its intelligence and noble bearing set it apart. Its ability to mimic human speech led to it being believed to have magical powers and in Celtic myth, the raven is regarded as an oracle and messenger of the otherworld.

In “the Raven”, the poem by Edgar Allen Poe, the absent lover, Lenore, is represented by a raven, an intermediary between this life and the next.
