Situated on the west side of Waterford Harbour on Ireland’s southeastern coast, Dunmore East or An Dún Mór Thoir in Irish, lies within the barony of Gaultier – Gáll Tír (foreigners’ land), a reference to the influx of Viking and Norman settlers into the area in the past.
Today the village is a popular destination for family holidays with the Waterford Harbour Sailing Club and the Dunmore East Adventure centre located at the harbour and with sandy beaches and picturesque cliff walks nearby.
