Newgrange formed part of my playground as a kid. In the days before the Brú na Boinne visitor experience was around, you could easily get into the passage tomb on any weekend. We used to roll down the sides of the mound and the odd time if the key keeper was there, you’d get into Knowth passage tomb too.
Familiarity hasn’t diminished the powerful impression of the people and beliefs involved in creating this mysterious structure millennia ago. If anything, over time, I feel more connected to this part of our past with every return.
