A Bit of History

Here in Ireland we like a bit of mystery and wonder. In County Waterford, there’s a magic road, where your car appears to rolls backwards up the hill.  In Kerry, there’s a “mad well’, a drop of which which is reputed to cure madness of all sorts, while almost every county North and South lays claim to one wonder or other.  The village of Fore in County Westmeath on the other hand lays claim claims not to just one, but seven!

The Seven Wonders of Fore include the monastery in the bog, the water that flows uphill, the tree that won’t burn, the water that won’t boil, the anchorite in a stone, the mill without a race and the lintel raised by St Feichin’s prayers.
