Derry City – Peace bridge and the Guild Hall

Straddling the river Foyle, Derry’s undulating streets are always fun to explore.

Just like the younger sibling needs to assert its personality, so Derry has long established itself as the more lighthearted and free spirited city by comparison to its larger rival, Belfast. The new Peace bridge is a timely symbol of how Derry has thrived since the peace accord in 1998 and its City of Culture status in 2013. The place is, as the saying goes, hopping! A favourite has to be Peadar O’ Donnell’s bar on Waterloo Street for trad music and a creamy pint, but the city is spoiled these days for things to do and see.
